The White House on Friday unveiled a $215 million programto study genes of a million Americans in various stages of sickness and health, with the hope of gaining vast new insight into diseases and how to cure them.
The kind of data crunching sponsored by the initiative can also help doctors figure out which patients will benefit from existing drugs — keeping them from wasting time and money on those that don’t, said Colin Hill of GNS Healthcare, who was in the front row Friday.
