Dr. Richard Popiel and Dr. Atul Butte to Assist GNS as it Applies Machine Learning to Population Health Strategies

Dr. Popiel is executive vice president of health care services and chief medical officer at Cambia Health Solutions. Widely regarded as a leading population health expert, Dr. Popiel previously served Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey as president and chief operating officer and as vice president and chief medical officer. His work has focused on personalizing care and on implementing innovative models of care that improve patient outcomes while containing costs.

Dr. Butte is chief and associate professor, division of systems medicine, departments of pediatrics and genetics, Stanford University and the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. The Butte Laboratory builds and applies tools that convert more than 400 trillion points of molecular, clinical, and epidemiological data – measured by researchers and clinicians over the past decade – into diagnostics, therapeutics, and new insights into disease.
